Biodetoxification

  • Environmental awareness began in the 1960’s and was highlighted by Rachel Carson’s book, Silent Spring. The 1996 release of Our Stolen Future, authored by Theo Colborn, Dianne Dumanoski, and John Peterson Myers, brought further enlightenment regarding the hazardous effects of the environment on mankind. The EPA recognizes toxic chemical contamination as “the most grievous error in judgment we as a nation have ever made--one of the most serious problems our nation has ever faced.” According to the American Chemical Society, there are over 15,000,000 registered chemical substances in use in America today. More than 30 million Americans work around toxic chemicals. The EPA’s multi-year study reveals that the levels of these harmful chemicals within our houses and buildings far exceed the levels of these chemicals in the outdoor air.

  • The National Academy of Science has recognized two especially ominous hazards from exposure to these toxic chemicals: cancer and heightened chemical sensitivity. The national figure for the development of cancer is rapidly approaching one out of every three Americans. It is conservatively estimated that 15% of our population is chemically sensitive.

  • Other hazards of great concern are reproductive problems such as infertility, miscarriage, and birth defects. Infertility has reached epidemic proportions in the past several years with chemical contamination a primary concern. Epidemiological surveys reveal a definite relationship between toxic chemicals and birth defects.

  • In general, exposure to toxic chemicals can be acute, chronic, accumulative, and interactive. Signs and symptoms are myriad, involve every organ system of the body, and may be mild to severe and even masked or hidden. Severe cases are readily detected and quickly treated. It is the masked symptoms, and the chronic cases which lie hidden for years before manifesting as severe pathologies, that concern us most.

  • It would be nice if we could reverse these hazards by stopping production of these chemicals. However, it’s not that simple, and it isn’t ever going to happen. An available alternative is to find a safe and effective way to reduce the burden of these toxic chemicals which have already entered the human body.

  • Our Program for Biodetoxification is such an alternative and offers a safe, effective way to reduce the body’s burden of toxic chemicals.

  • There are three fundamental mechanisms on which the program is developed:

    1. Mobilization of the toxic contaminants from their storage sites within the body.

    2. Enhancement of the body’s natural methods of detoxification, and

    3. Promotion of elimination or excretion of the contaminants from the body.
  • Mobilization of the fatty tissues of the body where toxic chemicals are stored is achieved by exercise and heat depuration therapy (sauna). Movement of the chemicals from fat storage to the blood stream readies them for excretion along three pathways:
    1. the bile following detoxification in the liver,
    2. simple movement along the length of the intestine, and
    3. excretion through sweat and sebaceous glands.

  • The Program of Biodetoxification is recommended for workers or people with known high risk exposures to toxic chemicals and for patients with a history of multiple chemical sensitivities. This Program represents a cost-effective answer to our existing environmental health crisis.
