What is the American Academy of Environmental Medicine?
In 1965, a group of clinicians from various specialties banded together and formed a medical society that has evolved into the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM). Environmental Medicine is the comprehensive, proactive and preventive strategic approach to medical care dedicated to the evaluation, management, and prevention of the adverse consequences resulting from environmentally triggered illnesses.

To support physicians and other professionals in serving the public through education about the interaction between humans and their environment. To promote optimal health through prevention, and safe and effective treatment of the causes of illness.
